Only electronic files conforming to the JALA guidelines will be accepted. Acceptable formats for the manuscript text and tables are DOC, RTF, XLS. Please also view the additional guidelines on submitting artwork.

Articles should not exceed 11,000 words, and should have a minimum of 6,000 words. The editors ask that writing is parsimonious, that arguments are tight, and that anything not clearly within the framing of the argument is eliminated.

The use of AI and other machine developed texts is strictly prohibited in the production of the manuscript. All texts must at all times be human generated. The JALA scrutinizes all texts exhaustively and repeatedly, to ensure that the text is generated by the human, and not in compliance with text generating or rectifying software. The test for AI and other assistance is accomplished by online testing software and human agents, in order to ensure the authenticity of the manuscript as human generated.
The JALA works only with all manuscripts that show promise in order to ensure that the text is publishable, and similarly acceptable for submission to the reviewers and the review process as a whole. As such, authors shall not resort to any mechanical means to develop their texts, with the knowledge that the JALA will assist in the ‘cleaning’ and development of the text, through human collaboration.
